Super short newsletter today, friends.
I think my brain does not want to do any work and has a major case of senioritis or whatever it is that afflicts students at the end of the year. All I want to do is curl up in bed and read hurt/comfort stories.
Like, please. MAKE MY TUMMY AND CHEST ACHE. AND THEN MAKE IT BETTER.
As with last week, you will find the following in today’s newsletter (feel free to skip to those parts):
- Personal note
- What brought me joy this week!
- What challenged me
- What else?
- Support and love our community
- Tell me more
Personal note
Several friends have messaged me over these past few weeks because they read this newsletter and are worried I might be depressed or am too hard on myself.
MAYBE! You never know!
But mostly, I think I’m just tired and I want to be useless and stare at pretty people.
Also, I might complain about Not Yoongi not being Yoongi, but I am glad and happy to be with him. (Now, before you think I’ve been kidnapped, SUGA IS THE SEXIEST MAN ON EARTH AND HERE’S PROOF.)
Okay, with that out of the way, few things annoy me as much as people not closing a door all the way. (And by people, I mean EVERYONE IN MY FUCKING IMMEDIATE FAMILY.) Like, you’re already 99.9% there, WHY CAN YOU NOT JUST SEAL THE DEAL AND CLOSE IT ALL THE WAY???
It is particularly annoying when we have windows open and the vacuum or breeze or whatever will cause these mostly closed doors to open and then shut (but not all the way) and make an irregular snicking sound and ISTG I WILL GO INSANE AND BALLISTIC and then go throughout the house screaming and closing doors.
Well, since my last explosion earlier this week, I can hear Not Yoongi throughout the house NOT fully close a door, pause and then go back and fully close the door.
FORGET DIAMONDS AND SHINY PRESENTS, THIS IS THE LOVE THAT KNOWS NO BOUNDS.
I mean, I’m not going to say no to diamonds and shiny presents (but it better not be paid for from the joint accounts!), but give me a conscientiously closed door any day.
What brought me joy
Watching Kitsune (2) be a tiny person is just too, too funny. Here are 3 stories that hopefully will also bring you joy.
1) The other day, she dropped a bowl of chips all over the floor. She responded by growling “Awwww shit!” or whatever toddler approximation of it is.
2) Also, she is now using the back of her diaper as a pocket. For spoons. 🤮 And she uses the spoons to slit my throat. She even provides sound effects. 🫠🫠🫠😆😆😆😆😆
3) And lastly, lest you think she’s just a vicious gremlin, she is super tender and sweet with her stuffies and toys. The other night, she tucked in my BTS Funko dolls and read them a story.
MY BRAIN ASPLODES FROM CUTENESS!
What challenged me
Honestly, it’s so so so so so difficult to get any motivation whatsoever to do anything at all. And of course, I have this poor personal assistant with nothing to do and she’s very nice and asks like, hey, um? Do you have stuff for me? And I’m like, uhhhhhh yes? Eventually?
Anyhow, that’s the challenge.
What else
Hrmmmm… I will have a booth at the Bay Area Book Festival Outdoor Fair on Sunday, June 1 from 11am to 6pm and one at the Sports Basement in San Francisco for a local author book fair the week after on Saturday, June 7 from 1pm to 4pm. I will have all three of my books for sale, some candy, and can personalize reader messages, too.

Support and love our community
This is the last week of May and AANHPI Heritage Month and I realized that I never asked folks to support Mochi Magazine! I mean, I did, but I totally forgot to include a link for our Ko-fi. (Mostly because I forgot we have one.)
Also, if you would like to join the team, definitely check us out! Though I initially joined Mochi Mag to get more bylines, I’ve found a wonderful community and learned so much about teamwork, writing, and myself. It’s been a fantastic experience.
Tell me more
Alrighty, as promised, a short newsletter this week because quite frankly, don’t we all deserve to spend more time on other things sometimes? (Hmmmm this seems to frame me poorly, but oh wells.)
I hope you’re doing well, and if you have any thoughts about the topics I chatted about, your own awesome parenting moments, or anything in particular, please reply or DM me!
May you have a week full of chaotic joy!
